hi the topic says it all, what do you use for cutting and editing sound files on a
mac? like what program and if any could you give some keystrokes?
have tried audacity and amadeus but i must be doing something wrong cause
it is not working
any advice?

I've used Audacity for most everything from stereo recordings of live shows to multitrack productions. I'd suggest going to help and from the help menu pick quick help in browser. That should offer you some good tips to get started.
